My hope was to get people engaged from real life just like the photo contest but, we would wear the photo contest out if we kept running it. Did you enjoy the idea of the scavenger hunt just not the execution? How would you have made it better?

TheCypherNine I would have chosen a different topic I suppose. I love the idea of scavenger hunts though! Your idea about the plant is excellent!
EDIT: Could it be a mature plant going through a blooming cycle? It is way too hot to start any seeds in Phoenix right now!

Of course the Photo Contest is an annual thing every December, so doing another photo contest for something else probably would be overdoing it ?

What kind of different topic? Of Course! I think the biggest issue was I made it a contest. I mean, sharing with the community doesnt always have to be a contest.

One thing regarding the photo contest that I'd consider changing is the closing date. Personally I'd have it after xmas rather than just before it. The run up to xmas can be a hectic time of year for some, and the last couple of year's I've thought about submitting myself however it completely goes out of my head until it's too late.

Mozworld Hmm... it's set up so that the winners are announced in the first moments of the new year. I suppose we could change that though.

Our treaty with The Rejected Realms says we should be doing some kind of joint cultural thing with them. Might be worth having a word with your opposite number over there.

What about an ARRRRRRbor day. A Pirate themed even in the Forest! We could have Pirate themed WW, Pirate trivia, a treasure hunt and have "Crews" as teams.

That is certainly an interesting event idea and it goes into what everyone was saying about things not necessarily having to be about the environment

I think doing non environmental based ones allow for people who may not fully understand the impact on our environment to come in and hear our message, especially if we invite other regions to participate and there are things we can do to still stay focused on our principles like if we do a treasure hunt the clues could be environmental stewardship based ones and we can do Pirate themed information posts like "Shiver me Clear cut Timbering! That is bad for the environment," I'm always a fan of those "Guess the Portmanteau" quizzes ala Ask Me Another, so we could do "Tree and Pirate terms" or something. ^_ Like "This outer layer of woody plants was also a notorious Welsh Pirate and is considered by some to be the most successful pirate after capturing over 400 vessels." and then the player would try and give the portmanteau of the two terms alluded to.

Hmm... I would really like to have some sort of summer contest. Cypher nine and others - do we think any of these ideas are close to being fully fleshed out and developed yet?

The plant one surely is, its easy to setup but not everyone may want to participate in that. We can gauge some interest in a poll pitting the various contests against one another?

Current Potential Event Descriptions:

Arrrbor Day - Interregional Pirate Themed Event designed to incorporate a popular theme while engaging people with our philosophy on the environment.

Issue Writing Workshop/Contest - Event designed to get more people interested in writing issues.

Grow- A - Plant Contest - Event designed to pit our green thumbs against each other, where we would vote on a plant or flower to bring to maturity and do our best to take care of it at each stage, earning points for the best taken care of and successful germination.

Are we expecting another nuclear event at the end of August? Do we need to make any preparations for whether to join with anyone in particular as regards factions?

Mozworld We are expecting another event, I believe. (And I couldn't be looking forward to it more!) Given how we did last time, we could ask IDU again if they wanted to join forces, and possibly Yggdrasil as well. As for allies, I expect Spiritus would be a good ally, like last time, as well as the TNP/TSP/TRR/TP joint faction that I know is in the planning again. Now that we have embassies with Conch Kingdom I can imagine a stronger alliance with the Augustin Alliance, and we might want to see if 10000 Islands wanted to do a non-aggression thing too. I'm probably getting way ahead of myself though. ?

Trouble for me is the events start when I'm sound asleep in bed. We should probably have a plan - but I reckon planning should take place in a new committee.
