1/11 - A PULLED SHUTTER SHOT OF THE SINGAPORE FLYER. MARINA BAY, SINGAPORE.
The revolving colours are something that we have all seen and heard of for a huge Ferris wheel, but with a combination of a tripod and slow shutter speeds, I was able to capture this rather bizarre and surreal photo. This has not been edited in any way (apart from light corrections) and instead, is a method whereby while the camera’s shutter is open, I was slowly pulling in (or out) the focal length.

While these man-made trees are already pretty impressive feats of engineering and design by day, it never ceases to amaze and surprise tourists and locals alike with its attractive lights accompanied by upbeat music. Thousands of people whip out their smartphones and start snapping these majestic and lighted up trees, as well as amateurs and professional photographers alike taking that perfect shot.

Obsessed with that technique I used on the Singapore Flyer, I figured that I might as well give it a try on a few other elements around, such as the shot of a city. Instead of clarity, I went with more… surreal theme, and I am at this point sounding like an art student despite my incompetence in art and drawing. ? Step into the future, my friends!

Also known as the place that is very very common for tourists to take photos of, as well as for amateurs and professionals alike. Around 9 PM at almost every night, it will shoot out lasers and have a water-based show for everyone to enjoy. It’s free!

There are many things that we might have not seen or imagined without the usage of slow shutter speeds, and a good tripod. And my tripod just broke, so I might not be able to take photos like these for the time being. It looks like you can skate from where I am taking the shot, to the other side of the river.

Compared to the post-WWII era and the 1960s to 1980s… to the present day, you can definitely tell that Singapore has underwent a huge change. The Little Red Dot that became a front for international trade, as well as for diplomacy, and most importantly, tourism and a city that nearly never sleeps (the title of “city that never sleeps” goes to New York). What is Singapore’s secret, really?
