Yeah honestly cannot see anything in this resolution that strikes me as unfair. I imagine it is basically a big spiky club to be used against those who RP noncompliance instead of simply leaving the WA.

Uan-aa-Boa Yeah that is it really. I left because I felt the WA as an institution refused to really legislate with anything other than a pretty narrow view of what a country was or operated - namely a liberal democracy.

Honestly, if you have that big a problem with the WA you should leave. You can still comment, and you can always have a puppet for purposes of proposing resolutions and voting. Hanging about stropping over how you won't comply in drafting threads etc. Is as annoying as hell and I do not begrudge IA or SP for wanting this spiky stick.

Caracasus I know what you mean about the liberal democracy thing. I guess I basically treat the WA as a separate game. Without the compartmentalising, the proposal I just put forward would actually have almost zero effect on Uan aa Boa because the state would in all probability not recognise any legal persons. If I could be bothered starting over it would be more consistent to make a Scandinavian themed nation to do the WA thing with. And yet you still get the RP wankers who want legislation written to reflect the needs of intelligent plants , elves and people living on spaceships (Bears Armed excepted because their RP adds flavour and doesn't derail anything).

But yeah, I do feel the WA could stand to be better at accomadating other viewpoints and societies. We don't need a nation of sentient potted plants to highlight it though.

Turbeaux I don't see what's sinister about Article V to be honest. I think it's a blocker to stop Aurelia somewhere down the line proposing that the assembly should have discretion to waive the fines against nations that are following a higher obligation (or something of that nature).

I will be opposing the Administrative Compliance Act because its author is one of the two members of gensec that ruled it's rival, Limitations on Compliance Enforcement, to be illegal. I think we have a ethical obligation to oppose it regardless of our stance on non-compliance or the merits of this proposal. We should all be able to agree that players should not personally benefit from their use of administrative powers.

Personally, I support it. I doubt this is actually intended as some big spiky stick to stop noncompliance though (since people will just ignore this as well or something), but more of something to be realistic in responses to deliberate noncompliance.

LordDominator Intent does not count for much. How would you feel if something you enjoyed doing was suddenly banned by an international organization and you got fined for doing it (I am not saying that I enjoy flouting the WA)? I think that setting up a compliance organization is a massive overreach. Also, @Areulder pointed out another important flaw.

Turbeaux Literally, I have no idea how this could somehow be used offensively in a rp context, beyond people noting that non-compliance gets you fines. Also to note, the noted illegal ruling was on the Gameside panel, wasn't opposed by the author (except perhaps on the general principle of being marked illegal), and has already sparked a debate on GenSec standards there.

LordDominator well, someone's made a puppet of each of the committees in this proposal, so that's one way.

Areulder Those people are stupid then, but thanks to the standard rules on rp on NS and whatnot, they still can't force someone out of the WA or make them rp in some context.

There has always been a division between rp on the forums and rp in the general assembly. On the forums it is more or less anything goes you can have a slaver based nation in the wa that drops missiles on civilian targets for instance (though such levels of evil for the sake of it seldom make a good game) and unless agreed upon the WA will not be bought in.

In fact the best players build in creative compliance or covert plausible deniability when it comes to such things.

A good rp should have an OOC thread where these things are discussed and planned. I can only see this disrupting poor RP's.
