Re Communications Minister or Voice of the Forest (nice title), I'm seeking clarification from Lord Dominator on what the gameplay embassy thread will look like and when we can expect to see it. I'm aware of the potential for overlap if both projects go ahead. Once I understand what's happening about that I'll appeal for a volunteer if it still seems necessary.

I can take a look at it, but for each scenario it may be worth getting Errinundera's opinion on it, as they will be the only one with controls at that point during election season.

For one candidate are they just crowned Forest Keeper immediately upon the conclusion of the 'do you want to be Forest Keeper' poll or do we still have campaign week so they can put their ideas forward. Then do we vote again? With one option (the candidate) or two options (Yes or No).

For no candidates do we just keep running the poll until someone does say yes, or does Errinundera step in for that term?

As for the more than 12 scenario, does anyone have an ideas? I think before NS polls were created votes were telegrammed to Errinundera, so we could revert to that system. Trouble is we're a lot bigger now than we were and if everybody votes at once Errinundera's mailbox could fill up and votes are missed. EDIT - Just noticed they have a Postmaster-General badge, so mailbox size wouldn't be an issue.
Offsite voting (surveymonkey?) perhaps, but can't confirm people are who they say they are?
Splitting the initial round of voting into two and some sort of whittling down for a runoff?

I don't want to spoil any enthusiasm, but we should be aware that producing updates like those of TRR and Europeia is a lot of work. Much more than it looks.

Although a welcome TG might not be so effective, as Mozworld pointed out, it can help introduce the people it does reach to the region. I do think we should have one set up if only for those cases.

I'd been remiss on sending Turbeaux some of the files to deal with the Photo Contest, but I am doing that now.

I used to do it when I was Foreign Minister so I do appreciate the size of the commitment, If you don't ask, however, you don't get.

Mozworld Off-site anything is bad for democracy IMO. If Errinundera has Postmaster General TGs should be the way to go.

This is Errinundera from an RMB discussion over a year ago,

A secret ballot is impossible as things stand. If we want one vote per person then someone has to know who has voted and how. If that knowledge is restricted then the election process will be open to accusations of partiality. If secrecy isn't possible, the next best ideal is transparency - if one person knows how people voted; then everyone should know. The main purpose of a secret ballot is to prevent intimidation, which isn't likely in NS anyway.

I think this rather suggests on-site polls with preliminary rounds in order to get down to a 12-way final vote.

On-site polls are definitely preferable. If off-site was necessary, though, these forums can be easily used for elections -- just have people post the candidate of their choice in a thread. While you can't confirm that x nation onsite = x account on the forum, you can make sure that everyone voting has listed their nation and no one is voting with multiple accounts/from the same IP (as I already do when giving people roles here).

Perhaps instead of writing paragraphs on various unlikely contingencies it would be better to say that in the event of there being fewer than one or more than 12 candidates the Founder is trusted to find an appropriate solution in keeping with the Forest Way,

Perhaps If, for whatever reason, the onsite poll proves inadequate for voting on the new Forest Keeper, the founder is charged with finding a solution in keeping with the Forest Way

That'd cover more than 12, less than 1 participants as well as if by some fluke polls are limited or they remove the ability to restrict voting by WA membership.

Mount Seymour I am doing it a chunk at a time since I can send TGs to up to 8 nations at once without stamps.

Turbeaux Oh! I could've given you a trick for doing that all at once.

Address a telegram to region:Forest +tag:WA -nation:[all nations endorsing ransium]. The system picks it up as a regional telegram because of the region:Forest at the front, so you don't have to use any stamps, but because of the other parameters it only sends to nations in the WA, not endorsing Ransium.

Mount Seymour Thank you! I may be able to use that in the future! Ransium is already getting endorsements out of my group TGs and one of the nations even replied to me apologizing that they had not already endorsed him.
