Caracasus

This committee seeks to identify ways to improve and develop Forest's relationship and interaction with the World Assembly. This could include:

Lines of communication
Developing and advertising World Assembly resolutions

This is by no means an extensive list of possible discussion topics for this committee. Anything World Assembly and Forest related can be discussed here.

I think we need 2 forum areas, one for the General Assembly and one for the Security Council.

Right now there's nothing brewing in the GA, but in 18 hours Commend Guy will reach the voting floor in the SC, to be followed by Repeal "Liberate The Monarchist Entente" and then Repeal "Commend Evil Wolf".

It would be cool if by the time voting starts we could gather some information, kick around a few ideas and have someone put something on the RMB. At a minimum an explanation of who these nations and regions are would be good.

The SC isn't really my thing but I know that Guy is a big shot in The Rejected Realms. The Monarchist Entente was liberated at a time when it had been raided. Now that it's back under native control the natives are asking for a repeal so they can set a password. That should be pretty uncontroversial. Evil Wolf is at risk of losing their commendation because of their role in the kerfuffle that happened in Lazarus last year and Mount Seymour was involved in writing the proposal so can no doubt tell us more.

In my opinion we should try this out as a space to share information and ideas rather than creating a lot of bureaucratic structure.

We actually already have two tags for General Assembly and Security Council. One of the first things I created ?

I know the general gist of Commend Guy and Repeal "Liberate TME", but I wouldn't be able to explain them fully - Repeal "Commend EW" I can speak on a bit. I'd suggest we create a thread with the appropriate tag here for each new resolution when it reaches quorum.

Meanwhile it looks like a bit of quiet period in the General Assembly with no legals proposals currently submitted. In the drafting pipeline we have:

A civil rights proposal by Aurelia asserting the rights and duties of the family. It reads well and might be popular but might also have hidden pro-life and conservative implications. IC Uan aa Boa doesn't like it at all.
Normally when you see United Massachusetts is behind a proposal you get ready for opposition, but his attempt to restrict conversion therapy is actually very good and I'll be wholeheartedly recommending it in due course.
Separatist Peoples has revived an old draft that would ban targeting of civilians and infrastructure in wartime. It looks pretty solid.
Our own Ransium is working on a proposal on the standardised labelling of hazardous goods. The debate has mainly been around what category it should be in.
Lurking in the background is a draft by the author of Protecting Minority Languages on restricting trade in culturally significant items (think thefts from the tomb of Tutankhamen)
There's a discussion on restrictions on tobacco but the general feeling seems to be that it's not an international issue.

Uan-aa-Boa I like 2-5, but 1 seems very problematic and worldwide prohibitionary measures against tobacco seems like a massive overreach, so I would oppose 6 unless it was narrowed down to second-hand smoke exposure to children or something similarly uncontroversial and specific.
