It’s been another year. Have you accomplished the goals you set for yourself? Are you proud of your actions this year? Have you come to terms with your faults and mistakes? More importantly how are you doing? We hope that this December 25th you spent your time with loved ones; family, friends or even the neighbor that nobody else pays any attention to. As the snow falls (weather permitting), the sun shines (weather permitting) and the roads freeze (drive safe) the community of Wintreath wishes you the merriest of Christmases, the happiest of Hanukkahs and the very best of Boxing Days. As a community that so strongly values the friendships developed here in NationStates we understand that while things may not always go well, whatever is happening your friends are here to lighten the load, talk you through it and carry you past it. It is with that in mind we send this to you. Whether you find your stocking filled with candy or coal, whether you find yourself in good fortune or bad, merry Christmas, happy festival, happy Yule and happy Solstice!

Man, what a jerk.

Not to worry. The rest of the Aperture staff are really friendly, and we will take every precaution to make sure you do not meet an untimely demise in some dark corner of our facility.

To that end, it would be good to read the basic guide for what exactly forum Werewolf is over here, but the basic premise is that it’s a social deduction game, where one Faction (typically referred to as the Scum or the Werewolves) have to kill off certain players during the night phases, and avoid being detected and voted off during the day phases, by another faction known as the Town or Village faction. Mafia and Werewolf are different names for the same game, and it is very similar to Town of Salem.

Our facility also uses a bit of technical jargon every now and then. We wouldn’t be very good mad scientists if we didn’t, now would we? You can find a detailed guide to every piece of jargon over here.

Don’t be shy to invite as many of your friends as you want to bring, either! We have some of the best bouncy-castles that science has ever produced, and our barbecues are legendary. See you there, carbon units!

Alright folks, the sound of that means it’s time for takeoff! That’s right, it’s time for another round of Werewolf with our 23rd installment: Around Wintreath in 8 Days! Hello Forest! Thanks to everyone that participated in our puzzle and sent me your results- that was fun 😃 I’ll try to include a couple in next edition, maybe make them a little more challenging.

This update comes a little late since I just sent out our Cabinet updates but our Jarl of Culture has stepped down in favor of retirement from NS today. Michi is a pillar of the Wintreath community so it’s sad to see them take a step back. After years of dedicated service to the region though, it’s a throughly deserved retirement. It is unclear at this time who will be appointed to become the next Jarl but I will update you accordingly!

Helllllloooooo Forest! I’m here to invite you to a couple of events we have popping off in Wintreath.

This month, on the 17th, Wintreath is turning 9! To celebrate “The First Day of Eternal Winter” and spooky season (aka the most wonderful time of the year) we have a month full of events. Everyone is welcome, admission is free, and the candy corn is pouring.

We’ll have Cards Against Humanity every Monday at 8pm Central, a custom made Murder Mystery game hosted by our Thane of Gaming, a roast for our Jarl of Culture (aka me), a series of TTRPGs and other games (all happening on the Discord, except for the murder mystery). I wanted to share the links for two things on the forums I in particular am excited about:

The Frozen Hellscape Art Contest, which is taking submissions from now until October 15th. Any original art with a Wintreath, Winter, or Halloween theme (or some combo of the three!) is eligible.

Werewolf XXX: Your Worst Nightmare, an evil concoction by one of our best werewolf hosts, Ruguo. Take your worst fears in these games- post restrictions, puzzles, shifting roles and share them on the thread when you join. Ruguo plans to make something simply diabolical. It’s sure to make you scream (though whether in delight or frustration I’m not sure).
